2 · The school

One of the great historic schools of England

Founded in 1611, Charterhouse is one of England’s great historic schools and one of its most beautiful. Its 240-acre campus in Godalming, Surrey, is close to London and within 50 minutes of both Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

Historic buildings sit alongside modern teaching suites, landscaped grounds and outstanding sports facilities. Summer students live in the school’s traditional 19th-century boarding houses, with their striking architecture and friendly atmosphere.

The summer school reflects the values and ambition of Charterhouse’s year-round education. Courses are written by Charterhouse teachers and taught by Charterhouse staff and expert guest teachers, giving students an authentic taste of British independent school life.

3 · The summer programme

One academic subject, one elective

Each student chooses one academic subject, studied for 3 hours every morning (30 hours), and one elective, studied for 2 hours every afternoon (20 hours). Everything is taught in English, so students practise their English all day.

The academic programme is led by Sandip Patel, Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Charterhouse. Students also meet inspiring leaders and professionals through interactive workshops and seminars, and receive a report and certificate at the end of the course.
