When you should actually apply

Oct–Dec 2026: most schools open. Early-bird windows open too.
Jan–Mar 2027: early-bird deadlines pass (Birmingham 15 Mar; Oxford-series courses from 31 Oct). Applying here saves £150–£250 per place.
30 Apr 2027: the largest cluster of final deadlines (Birmingham, Oxford Academic).
May–Jun 2027: UCL and others close. Visa families must be in well before this.
Visa students: add 6–8 weeks to any date above for the invitation letter and embassy processing.

A simple rule we give every family: apply by 30 April 2027 unless your child needs a visa, in which case target early March. We have watched too many families realise in April that the Oxford or medicine cohort is already full.

The date that matters depends on who runs the programme.

University-run schools (UCL, Birmingham, Oxford Academic) set hard, staged deadlines — early bird, final, then a payment date. Miss them and there is usually no second chance.
Private providers (Oxford Summer Courses, Atlas) run rolling admission. Places go to the first completed application, and the popular cohorts — medicine, AI, the Oxford and Cambridge campuses — often fill by January or February.
